mysteries
I found the birth records of Thomas & Judith's children James (1792) and Polly (1797). I had expected to also find a birth record for another child Thomas, who I thought was born about 1795. But I found no record in with James and Polly's record in the "Baptism Record of Reformed Church of Marbletown NY.
I had thought that a son Thomas existed based on his appearance on the 1860 census in Michigan with his mother. But perhaps he was not a son, but a nephew.

new research
While I was in Fort Wayne at a genealogy conference, I found a book at the Allen County Public Library called "Probate Records of Hillsdale County, Michigan to the year 1852" by Vivian Lyon Moore. In it was a summary of Oliver McLouth's probate of his estate.

While I was at a genealogy conference in Fort Wayne, I discovered new research. The book is entitled "Baptism Record of Reformed Church of Marbletown NY 1746 - 1871" compiled by Arthur C.M. Kelly 1979. The book lists the birth of 2 of their children (Polly and James).

While I was in Fort Wayne at a genealogy conference, I found a book at the Allen County Public Library called "Hillsdale County Michigan Marriage Index, 1835 - 2000". I was hoping to locate the marriage record of Seaton Flint and Emily McLouth, but it was not listed.

While I was at a genealogy conference in Fort Wayne, I discovered new research. It was in a book called "History of Ulster County, New York with illustrations and biographical sketches" by Nathaniel Bartlett Sylvester 1880.
There were many mentions of Thomas Swartwout:
- Mrs. Thomas Swartwout is listed as a daughter of Andrew Hill;
- mentions a "swartwout saw-mill". Don't know if that's Thomas' or not;
- Thomas is listed as a pathmaster of 1812 in the Town of Shandaken, district 14;
- Thomas is listed as a town officer of Shandaken for 1806 and 1807;
- Thomas Swartwout signed the certificate of incorporation for the Reformed Protestant Dutch church of Shokan on 02 Sept. 1800;
- Thomas is listed as an elder of the church at Shokan, as evidenced that he signed an inventory of the church's assets on 15 Sept 1804

oliver mclouth farmhouse
Today, while I was setting up google alerts, I happened to find a blog page. They talked about purchasing the farmhouse that Oliver McLouth lived in, and how they restored it. It even had a lot of really nice pictures.

I posted a response, asking for a po address (so that I can record where the house is actually located in my genealogical records) but haven't heard from them yet.

Reformed Church
While setting up my google alerts, I happened to run across the "Historical Directory of the Reformed Church in America". http://images.rca.org/docs/archives/hdchurches.pdf
It was from the early days 1628-1992s. It has the town where the church is/was located, the names of the pastors and years they pastored, year of organization and year dropped. There are no lists of members of the church.
What's interesting is it listed the church in Mottville, Constantine and Portage Michigan. On page 106, it talks about the Reformed Church in Mottville, Michigan. It lists the pastor from 1863-1864 as J.W. Beardslee. This is the same pastor that performed the marriage ceremony of Cephas and Arabell Parker (according to his pension records).

cyrus parker
Spoke with Eileen K today. She said that she has the complete pension file for Cyrus Parker, too. She said that she also has the military records for Cyrus (which I don't). A couple things about Cyrus that she told me:
1) Cyrus married Nellie Ballou in 1863 in Branch County Michigan. She spoke further with the library and they found a Nellie Parker in an asslyum in Kalamazoo. Was that an insane assylum or perhaps a TB assylum?
2) Witnesses to Cyrus' pension reodcrds were John & Mary Porter. They had a daughter Sarah/Sallie Porter who married James Bradford Parker (grandson of Cyrus).
3) Cyrus was a prisoner of war
4) Cyrus was part of Sherman's march through Georgia

Richmond family ponderings
Somehow I happened today to fall into a research problem. Who are the parents of Lydia Richmond, who married Lemuel Hammond? What I know:
1) Per pioneer history, her maiden name was Richmond and she was born in Batavia, Genesee County New York in 1811. Her parents were not named;
2) She has a death certificate as "Lydia Harmond", but her parents were listed as unknown;
3) In 1860 twins Isabel & Arabel Richmond, age 12, were living with Lydia and Lemuel. No relationship is given in the 1860 census.
4) on 04 April 1861, Hiram and Adelia Richmond are witnesses to the marriage of Charles Hammond and Aramintha Parker.
Questions:
1) How are Isabel and Arabel related to Lydia?
2) Who were Lydia's parents?
3) How are Hiram & Adelia Richmond related to Lydia?

cephas parker civil war pension records
Today I received by UPS a 2 pound package with the civil war pension records of Cephas Parker. There are 150 pages in the package and they are very legible. What's really interesting is that the National Archives had written to me a month or so ago and told me that the records could not be found. I wonder if someone had gone back and was reviewing all the "could not be located" records.

civil war pension records
Received a note from the National Archives today that they could not locate the civil war pension records that I requested. This was for David Van Frank, son of my ancestor John Van Frank. He was killed during the war, so I was hoping maybe his parents requested a pension. But none could be located. I could probably still write for his military service records, although they probably don't have any inforamtion of genealogical value.

Cemeteries
I was planning on making a trip to Streetsboro Ohio. I was going to visit the Trotter Farm cemetery, where our ancestor Daniel Johnson is buried. I looked on the Portage County Genweb website and they said that it is now called "Moran Cemetery". They also said: MORAN CEMETERY in Streetsboro was also called Trotter Farm Cemetery at Johnson's Corners at Moran; on Summit County line in northwest part of Streetsboro; 300 yards into backyard of a residence at 3221 Aurora-Hudson Road; no stones in 1994.So I'm glad I checked. But I'm bummed that all the stones seem to be gone.

Forest Hill Cemetery
Today Kristy and I went after church up to Michigan. We visited the Forest Hill Cemetery in Ann Arbor. My hubby purchased me a GPS and I wanted to see how to use it. It was Kristy's first cemetery trip. She did really well, considering it was cold and muddy. But we found the tombstones. The only difficulty Kristy had is that she wasn't watching where she was looking at one point and she fell over a small tombstone. She was totally muddy, and upset. So we left. Took pictures of the Sheldon Family and FB Crego Family.
